<p>Philadelphia, PA January 21, 2008 &#8212; 1&amp;1 Internet Inc., the world&#8217;s largest web host by known servers, today completed a comprehensive extension of its wide area network (WAN). An overall bandwidth of more than 120 Gigabit/second is now available for 1&amp;1&#8242;s top-of-the-line data centers in Europe and the United States. For the first time, 1&amp;1 is connected directly to a large Internet Exchange point outside of Europe at Equinix in Chicago. The development means that the external connectivity of the world&#8217;s largest web host has tripled over the past twelve months.</p>
<p>Andreas Gauger, chairman of the board, 1&amp;1 Internet Inc., said, &#8220;With the upgrade of our Internet bandwidth, our millions of web hosting customers in Europe and the U.S. can be sure that their content will reach Internet users worldwide even faster and more reliably. As a result of multimedia applications like video streaming, the demand for bandwidth has grown enormously over the last few years.&#8221; The data volume transmitted from 1&amp;1&#8242;s data centers has in fact nearly doubled over the past year to 3,500 Terabytes (3.5 million Gigabytes) in January 2007, from 6,500 Terabytes in December 2007.</p>
<p>&#8220;The continuous upgrade of 1&amp;1&#8242;s data network shows that despite pessimistic forecasts from some, the boundaries of Internet growth have not yet been reached,&#8221; adds Gauger.</p>

<p>In November, U.S. research company, Nemertes, warned in a well known study that Internet infrastructure might no longer supply the growing demands of private and business users over the next 3 to 5 years. With its latest network upgrades and further measures planned for 2008, 1&amp;1 feels well prepared for continuously growing demand.</p>
<p>Over the next year, 1&amp;1 will focus on extending its U.S. network. In Chicago, at Equinix, 1&amp;1 is for the first time connected to a large Internet Exchange point outside of Europe. <p>A new email SMTP service has been developed for travelers which fixes the widespread problem of not being able to send emails from laptops.</p>
<p>New Zealand August 1, 2007 &#8212; For many travelers, the need to be able to email people, make cheap phone calls, and connect to the Web, has meant that a laptop has become an essential item to take on any trip. However, many travelers have discovered there is a problem with using an email client, such as Outlook Express, on a laptop &#8211; they can still receive, but can no longer send email.<span id="more-110"></span></p>
<p>Charles Abrahamson, a former backpacker and computer science graduate from New Zealand, discovered this while vacationing in Argentina recently. &#8220;Within the first day, I discovered that none of the Internet cafes or hotels I tried connecting through would allow any of my emails to be sent.&#8221; A few days of research later, after discovering the problem was in fact worldwide, he decided to create an SMTP service designed specifically to get around the usual problems that travelers experience, called SMTP2Go.</p>
<p>&#8220;The main reason why travelers have such difficulty sending emails is in fact because the server they were given by their ISP to send emails (their SMTP server) is normally designed by their ISP to only work when they are actually connected to the Internet at home. This is actually done on purpose by ISPs in order to prevent spammers from taking advantage of the server.&#8221;</p>
<p>Another reason why sending emails is so difficult is the fact that increasing numbers of Internet cafes and hotels are banning the traditional port &#8211; port number 25 &#8211; that is used to send emails. &#8220;SMTP2Go was designed to be open on multiple ports, and to work from any location, while only allowing legitimate users and rejecting any attempts to send spam or unsolicited bulk email.&#8221;</p>
<p>Charles spent the next 4 months traveling through Chile, Costa Rica, and even Cuba, with no problems sending email: &#8220;SMTP2Go has been great, not only for me, but for hundreds of other travelers who are now using it from all 4 corners of the globe &#8211; we have travelers using it in Australia, South Africa, Canada, India, Norway, Switzerland and of course the UK and the USA.&#8221; In fact, most subscribers are from the USA, either traveling within their own country, or simply tired with the unreliability of their normal SMTP server.</p>

<p>Basel, Switzerland May 9, 2007 &#8212; The Canoo WebTest team is pleased to announce the release of version 2.5 of its open-source web application testing tool. This new version leverages the new AJAX testing capabilities of HtmlUnit 1.11 that Canoo WebTest is built on. Based on these capabilities, testing of dynamic web applications has been improved and works with popular AJAX frameworks like DWR, and Web 2.0 applications like Google Maps.<br />

New testing steps are available such as verifying radio buttons, working with different web clients in parallel, and switching between windows. A feature of particular interest is the possibility to repeat steps with an XPath expression in order to loop over all elements that match this expression.</p>
<p>&#8220;Speaking about XPath, in WebTest you can define your own XPath function in Groovy and use it inside any XPath in your test specification. Groovy-1.0, the latest final version of Groovy, ships with WebTest. With Groovy you can extend and customize your WebTests in any possible way and enjoy the merits of dynamic scripting support when the situation calls for it,&#8221; said Dierk König, Senior Software Engineer at Canoo, WebTest developer and committer.</p>
<p>The test coverage of WebTest itself has been kept at a high level of 98.5%. The documentation now offers an extra sidebar for quick navigation. Test reporting &#8211; one of the distinctive strength of Canoo WebTest &#8211; has been improved even more and allows in-place viewing of server responses and browsing.</p>
